The best in Scotland gather this week for the Oscars of the Scottish tourism industry.
The Scottish Thistle Awards take place tonight (Thursday March 14) and ten Highland businesses are in the running to bring home a prestigious trophy.
Our Highland finalists are:
– Macgregor’s, Inverness, up for Best Bar/Pub.
–The Seafood Shack, Ullapool, competing for Best Eating Experience.
–Speyside Cooperage Visitor Centre, Craigellachie, in the Best Heritage Tourism Experience category.
–Where Stags Roar, Newtonmore, up for Best Self Catering Accommodation Experience.
–Cruise Loch Ness, Inverness, for Best Visitor Attraction.
–Inverness Taxis, Inverness, for Innovation in Tourism.
–Pool House, Achnasheen, for Most Hospitable B&B/Guest House.
–Links House at Royal Dornoch, Dornoch, for Most Hospitable Hotel.
–Oban Live, Oban, for Best Cultural Event or Festival.
–Mull Eagle Watch, Isle of Mull, competing for the Working Together for Tourism award.
–Glenegedale House, Islay, for Tourism & Hospitality Hero.
–Basking Shark Scotland, Oban, for Best Outdoor/Adventure Experience.
The above finalists have already enjoyed success at our 2018 HITA Awards where they won their categories – giving them automatic entry to the national Thistle awards.
Tonight, they will compete with winners from four other regional awards to find the very best in Scotland.

Laurence Young, HITA board chairman, sends his well wishes too; “Good luck to all Highland finalists. Whatever the outcome, we congratulate them and we hope they are proud of their achievements in reaching the national final.”
