SSE is delighted to be the flagship sponsor of the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards (HITA) for the fourth year running.

Energy and tourism are two of the most important sectors in the Highland economy. Our industries have grown up together, and supporting excellence and innovation in this way is a natural fit for SSE.

With a proud history firmly rooted in the Highlands, we have harnessed the power of the glens for more than 70 years. Our employees live and work in the communities we serve, giving us a deep understanding of the landscape in which we operate.

As a responsible developer and operator, SSE is committed to continuing to work together and learn from each other – and to continue to deliver jobs and positive community development for the long term.

SSE’s success, like the tourism trade, is built on the most important asset that we have – our people. Their talent, skills and knowledge are what make our businesses thrive.

We have been thrilled to watch the awards go from strength to strength – with last year’s event boasting the highest number of entries in its history – and we look forward to the same excellent standards in 2016.

A total of 44 finalists were named across 14 categories, including four new sections created to recognise tourism innovation, friendly pubs, outstanding sporting events, and individuals dedicated to hospitality.

From companies and events to attractions and individuals, these awards showcase the very best of the tourism industry across the Highlands. It’s now time to get entering or nominating – and we wish everyone the very best of luck in 2016.
